Michael ORRPulpit MinisterMichael Orr has served as evangelist and pulpit minister at Saginaw Church of Christ since 2007. Before that he preached at Needville Church of Christ, George West Church of Christ and the Crandall Church of Christ. Michael graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible in 1999. He first met his wife Loretta when he was an intern at Peach Valley Youth Camp. His dad was so impressed with her, that he proposed for Michael on the last night of camp. Later they met at ACU, and eventually Michael proposed to her at the same youth camp the next year. They married in May 2000. They have four children; Jillian, Joy, Joshua and Jaycee. Michael came to know Christ at the age of eleven after church camp and was baptized on the way home at the Woodlawn Church of Christ in Abilene, TX with his aunt and grandmother present. Even before that, he knew he was going to be a minister as early as the third grade. He felt compelled while in high school in Sweeny, Texas where his father was the evangelist, to go into full time ministry after he graduated from ACU. Michael always felt a need to be involved in the community and the church in some way, and early on he was involved in other local congregations because he was taught to do so as a young man. His grandfather, father, brother and brothers-in-law were/are ministers. Michael’s strengths are primarily in his desire to love and invest in others and in his ability to come up with ideas. They’re not all good ideas, but he has a lot of them! He really enjoys studying and preaching God’s word and working with and training people in the Lord. Michael says “I hope and pray I bring to the Church, Christ working through me and using my personality and life to grow and encouraged the Lord’s Church in Saginaw”. Michael is often involved with Community Link Mission in one way or another since coming to Saginaw and he prays at the Saginaw City Council meetings several times a year. He has also been privileged to host two volunteer appreciation dinners for volunteer organizations in Saginaw and is a board member for our Train Up Preschool. In his free time, he enjoys writing novels and short stories about science fiction and fantasy. He has also written several plays, songs, and poems. He enjoys running, sewing, playing the guitar, singing, and occasionally woodworking.
